Sarah and Jesse, Mechanics Hall

August 30th, 2010

Sarah! I’m so happy to post your wedding on our blog. You and Jesse had a perfect day and we’ve been excited since the engagement session to see it all come together. You and Jesse looked amazing as did Mechanics Hall! The ballroom looked so elegant with the candles and flowers by Michele Bernard. The band was great as was Jesse’s bass solo! ;) Here is a highlight of your day:

Next step… a beautiful album! I cannot wait to see your album designed and bound. We have a new sample in the studio too, so come on in and check it out. I have a feeling you will love it!

Thank you to you and Jesse for choosing us and for being great to work with!

Wedding Trends for 2010

August 13th, 2010

I wanted to share my favorite link of the week regarding weddings which was found on HubPages. This article talks about six of the most popular wedding trends in 2010 and I could not agree more with their selections! The six trends listed were:

1.) The Birdcage Veil

2.) Signature Wedding Cocktails

3.) Patterned Table Linens

4.) Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

5.) The Colored Shoe (my favorite!)

6.) Photo Booth

A few samples from our recent weddings are:

Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses: At Sarah and Jesse’s wedding, Sarah chose a basic color palette and let the girls choose their own styles and specific colors. I love this trend and think this worked out really well here:

Unique Veils: Lauren and Matt’s wedding was elegant throughout, but Lauren’s veil and hair piece was unique and really added vintage elegance:

PhotoBooth: At Stephanie and Tad’s wedding, the photobooth was a huge hit. Here, the guests are taking their images from the booth and adding them to a scrapbook for the newlyweds!

Oh, the shoes: Stephanie and Tad make it to the great trends list again with Stephanie’s shoes! I love the splash of color and have been seeing this more and more at weddings. The shoes are always unique and a great way to add a bit more personality to a typical traditional look. If the shoes are really show stoppers, don’t worry about the non-believers… most of the time they are covered by the gown so go for it!

Found on HubPages, take a look at this site that discusses these trends and a few more! Be sure to scroll down and also see their photos!

Our Journey

July 22nd, 2010

Sometimes you do not realize just how far you’ve come until you take a step back and take a good look. This is what Steve and I have been doing inadvertently as we reorganize our studio. In the process of making more room for new products and new office equipment, we have been discovering some hidden treasures from our many years of wedding photography. With a recent goodbye to some of our old cameras such as many Hasselblads and a Mamiya, we were sad to see them go! Some, however, we cannot part with! Take a look at some of the camera journey we have been on so far…

Wedding Cameras for professionals

Now carefully on display under glass, we can see our babies watching us in the studio! (ok, I’m kidding about them being our babies, but it’s so nice to have them in view and appreciated!) Included in the beloved archive of our cameras we have the following in order of age:

Kodak Retinette 1B – Our oldest in the collection.

Canonet QL17 – Classic!

Yashicamat 124 – My personal favorite of Steve’s!

Minolta x700 – My very first manual camera (I am holding it here)

Canon D30 – My original digital camera

Canon Mark III – Current camera, not under glass just yet!

It was fun to save a few cameras as we cleared up the space in the studio. It’s funny how much you remember about each camera and whose wedding you photographed with it! I am proud of how much we have done so far and each time we look back on a previous year, Steve will say without fail, “We had a good time.” Yes indeed.

I wanted to thank so many of our couples for their beautiful weddings lately!! Jennifer and Peter at Cyprian Keyes, Aima and Daniel also at Cyprian Keyes, Sarah and Jesse at Mechanics Hall… Wow!!! I hope to blog some images of your weddings. I want to show how different each were yet uniquely beautiful.

A big thanks also to the couples who are now booking your 2011 weddings with us. Today we met a wonderful couple, Mandi and Jason, who will be married at the Chocksett Inn next year. We are happy you chose us!

So many weddings to show off… but I had to share a small piece of our camera journey with you. I guess it is easier to see now that this is not a weekend hobby for us. Not a part time thing. It’s just what we do and very much a part of us! :)

Beechwood Hotel Wedding, Worcester, MA

July 22nd, 2010

We were recently invited to the private pre-opening of Ceres Bistro, The Beechwood Hotel’s new Contemporary American restaurant. Not only was it beautiful, but we had samplings of the food from chef Volker Wagner and fresh drinks like their rosemary lemonade. (yum) Hosted by the Beechwood’s owners, we were happy to be part of this event. It was nice to see familiar faces such as Mark Waxler and wedding event coordinators Lisa and Jackie.

Being at the Beechwood reminded me of a recent wedding we photographed there that I wanted to share. Elena and Matt’s wedding had one of the most memorable parties in a long while! With a great band and Matt in the middle of the dance floor, it was a very fun night! Here are some images from their elegant wedding day:

Thank you to Jamie Ivans from The Pulse magazine who got this photo of me and Steve at the opening of Ceres Bistro:
